OUR STORY

First Steps Performing Arts was created to give children a place where their creativity can shine from the very beginning. We welcome dancers from 18 months, guiding them as they take their first steps into the world of dance.

Our school is built on three key values:

confidence, creativity, and community!

We believe dance should be joyful, inclusive, and accessible for every child, no matter their background or ability.​

Whether a student dreams of the stage or simply wants to enjoy moving to music, we help them build skills, make friends, and discover their own unique spark.

MEET MISS COURTNEY

Hello, I’m Miss Courtney, founder and principal of First Steps Performing Arts.​​

Dance has been part of my life since I was four years old, and I’ve trained across Ballet, Tap, Freestyle, Contemporary, Cheer, Musical Theatre, and Acro.

Over the years, I’ve completed a range of professional qualifications, including:

  • IDTA Freestyle Associate (95% distinction)

  • IDTA Level 4 Ballet

  • Acrobatics training with Acrotrix & Acrobatic Arts

  • NATD Early Years Training

  • BCA Level 4 Cheer Qualification

  • LCM Musical Theatre Diploma

I’ve taught in nurseries, schools, and studios across the West Midlands, and I love nothing more than seeing little dancers light up when they discover what they can do. My biggest inspiration is watching children grow, not just in their dance skills, but in their confidence, friendships, and belief in themselves.
